Multicultural Symbiosis Support
Center(SHIPS) carries out various multicultural activies in order to deepen
mutual understandings among the members of our community with different
nationalities.
We also offer flexible and comperhensive consultion services that will help
resolve a wide variety of problems.
Our Center aims to provide a meeting place, Koryu Salon, where people gather
feeling at ease and build friendships regardless of their nationalities,
cultures, ages, sexes and regions.
Services
(1) Multicultural understanding classes (cooking, language, music and sports
lessons)
(2) Daily life support services (consultation services for housings and
improvement of job skills and working environment)
(3) Other services that help accomplish our aim (we pffer comprehensive and
flexible counseling services)
Classes presently being held
・ Capoeira lessons - every Saturday 7 PM to 9:30 PM
(Capoeira is a blend of martial art, game and dance
originated in Brazil)
・ Chinese lessons for children - every Saturday 3 PM
to 5 PM
・ World Cooking Class - planned to be held twice a
manth
・ Samul nori lessons - every first, third and forth
Saturday 10 AM to 11:30 AM
(Samul nori is a genre of traditional percussion
music originated in Korea)
※ We are now inviting people who are interested in
organizing cultural classes or showing the cooking skills.
<What's New>
A new class of Korean traditional percussion music, Samul nori, will start
from July 5th. Samul nori is performed by four instrument;Janggu(an
hourglass-shaped drum), Buk(a frame drum similar to the bass drum), Jing(a
larger gong) and Kkwaenggwari(a small gong).
We are asking for contributions of pictur books toys for children staying our
Koryu Salon. If you have those items lying lying idle in the house, please contact
us.
